New Film Series at HHML
The Hiram Halle Memorial Library has begun an exciting new film series on Friday evenings, featuring extraordinary films that you may have missed or would like to see again. The film series will be presented by long-time film buff Norman Senior, and each series of films will focus on a central theme. The theme for the spring series is “Irish Tales and Storytelling”.
Friday, June 6 – This Is My Father, a moving and romantic drama by Paul Quinn, featuring an all-star cast headed by Aidan Quinn and James Caan. A deeply touching film with superb acting.
Friday, May 9 – The Dead, takes place in Dublin in 1904. Donald McCann and Anjelica Huston star in this remarkable movie based on the short story by James Joyce. This film involves poignant memories and celebrates time, place, and atmosphere.
Friday, April 11 – The Secret of Roan Inish, a purely magical film by John Sayles This movie is the tale of a girl whose search for her missing brother brings an Irish legend to life. A treat for all ages.
The Hiram Halle Library is more than a collection of books, we’re a community center. Join us. Our movies begin at 7:30 p.m. Hope to see you there. I highly recommend this new series.
The library also hosts an ongoing “Meet the Author” series. On Sunday, April 6 at 4:00 P.M., Clara Knopfler, author of “I Am Still Here: My Mother’s Voice”, will be joining us for a very special book talk and signing. Come and hear Ms. Knopfler talk of her extraordinary experiences under the Nazis during WWII. You won’t want to miss her incredible story.
