THE BOOK

Check the July 6/13 cover of THE NEW YORKER. Why not a kindle or other ebook device? Wouldn't work, it seems. Maybe next year.

RAY BRADBURY & PUBLIC LIBRARIES

In last Saturday's NY Times (06/20/09) Ray Bradbury is quoted as saying, "Libraries raised me. I don't believe in colleges and universities. I believe in libraries ..." Mr. Bradbury's lifelong passion for books ranks high. Remember "Fahrenheit 451"? According to the article, at almost 90 years young, he still can be found regularly at a branch of the Los Angeles Public Library.

Wendy Lipp

Saturday, April 25, 2009

Wendy Lipp's jazz concert for the benefit of the library promises to be a fabulous evening. Lucky library supporters will see the Schaffner Room transformed into a beautiful cabaret with delicious goodies prepared by our own Liz Larkin. Personally, what I find encouraging is Wendy's quote in Bonni Brodnick's TALK OF THE TOWN COLUMN. In it Wendy says, "The Library is important to our town because it's a place where we can all come together to enjoy, learn and support one another". That's our mission, Wendy, & I could not have said it better. Thank you for all that you do for us.
